Sarfaraz Khan’s brother, Mumbai batter Musheer Khan, broke the historic Sachin Tendulkar’s record in the Ranji Trophy Final. Musheer had set up the Ranji trophy on fire with his spectacular performances. While playing against Vidarbha in the final match, Mumbai player Musheer scored an outstanding century with 136 runs off 326 deliveries. In his inning, Musheer slammed 10 boundaries to give his team a massive 500+ run lead.
However, with his wonderful century, Musheer snatched the youngest Mumbai batter to score a century in a Ranji Trophy final record from masterblaster Sachin Tendulkar. Coincidentally, Sachin was present in the gallery, watching Musheer’s marvolous century and applauding it.
Musheer was 19 years and 14 days old when he achieved this feat, while the previous record holder, Tendulkar, was just below 22 years of age when he did this in the 1994–95 Ranji season. However, Sachin managed to score twin centuries in that season.
Not only in the final, Musheer was in super form throughout the season. In the quarterfinal match against Baroda, Musheer’s outburst double ton with 203 runs on 357 balls was really a spectacular inning in his career. It was his maiden century too.
Musheer played a crucial half century with 55 in 131 balls during the semi-final against Tamil Nadu. His inning supported the century hero, Shardul Thakur, and ultimately helped the team achieve victory.
Despite India being a runner-up in the U19 World Cup tournament, Musheer played a great game in all of his 7 matches. he scored 360 runs at an average of 60 and a strike rate of over 98, heended up as the second-highest run scorer in the entire tournament. With a best score of 131 runs, he smashed two centuries and a half century.
