On Tuesday, England’s legendary pacer James Anderson revealed the true story of what he said to star Indian batter Shubman Gill during their verbal war. While playing the fifth and final Test of the INDvsENG series at Dharamsala on Day 3, the two cricket stars exchanged some words on the ground.
After completing the day’s play, A Century Hero, Gill attended a post-day media conference. When he was asked about the words exchanged between him and England’s legendary pacer James Anderson, Gill reluctantly refused to reveal their chat and said, “I think it would be better for both of us to keep that chat private.”
However, after these days, Anderson has spilled the beans while talking on a TV channel podcast. Anderson said that he taunted Shubhman Gill about his overseas test record. “I said something to him like, ‘Do you get any runs outside India?’ and he said, ‘It’s time to retire.” Anderson also revealed that he took Gill’s wicket within two balls after this chat.
Gill’s Overseas Record:
In the meantime, if we had a look at Gill’s away-from-home performances, he was nearly as good as at home. In his test career, Gill played 10 Test matches away from home until now. He has scored 556 runs at an average of 32.70, with a century and two half centuries. 110 runs against Bangladesh at Chittagong is his best score outside India.
Gill’s home record:
Nonetheless, Gill’s home record is much better compared to outside India. The star opener played 13 tests in India till now, and he scored 869 runs at an average of 41.38, with three centuries and four half centuries. 128 against Australia at Ahmedabad is his best score at home.
Moreover, throughout the current INDvsENG test series, Gill was spectacular with the bat. He was the second-highest run-getter in the series with 452 runs in 9 innings at an average of 56.5. Gill managed to slam two centuries and two fifties with a best score of 110.
