Team India captain Rohit Sharma slammed England player Ben Duckett over his comments about Yasashvi Jaiswal’s consecutive heroic innings.
On Wednesday, as the team is all set to play the 5th test match against England in Dharamshala, Rohit attended a press conference.
When he was asked to react to Duckett’s comments, Rohit didn’t hesitate to counter. The skipper said that Ben Duckett probably didn’t see Rishabh Pant playing.
“There was a guy called Rishabh Pant on our team; probably Ben Duckett hasn’t seen him play.”
Earlier, England’s Wicket keeper praised Yasashvi Jaiswal’s dealing with boundaries playing style in the Rajkot test and tried to give credit to England’s bazzball game for his attacking batting style.
He said, “When you see players from the opposition playing like that, it almost feels like we should take some credit that they’re playing differently than how other people play Test cricket,” Duckett had said.
Subsequently, many former players, like England’s former captain Nasser Hussain, criticized the player for his remarks.
While speaking on a TV channel, Hussain said, “He’s not learned from you. He’s learned from his upbringing and all the hard work he put in to grow up.
Look at him and learn from him. I hope there’s a little bit of self-introspection going on.”
However, Yashasvi Jaiswal has emerged as India’s top-scoring batter in the series, scoring 655 runs in 4 matches so far at an average of 94.57 and a strike rate of 78.63.
