RRvsMI: Rajasthan Royals extended their winning streak in the IPL 2024, defeating the Mumbai Indians by nine wickets on Monday night at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler forged a match-winning partnership to smash MI’s weak bowling attack.
RR’s young opener Jaiswal returned to form and played a much-awaited innings against MI. He has been struggling with form from the beginning of the IPL 2024. He rediscovered it in emphatic fashion. The young batter hit 104* off just 60 balls, including seven sixes and nine fours. His opening partner Buttler, known for his explosive starts, provided critical support with a 35-run knock before being dismissed by Piyush Chawla.
RRvsMI: Mumbai Batter’s Horror Show
Earlier, Mumbai Indians, opting to bat first, were bundled out for a meagre 179 runs. Sandeep Sharma, the Rajasthan pacer, wreaked havoc on the MI batting order, picking up a career-best five-wicket haul for just 18 runs. Mumbai’s middle-order resistance from Tilak Varma (65) and Nehal Wadhera (49) couldn’t prevent a collapse as Rajasthan’s spinners tightened the grip in the later stages.
With this dominating victory, Rajasthan Royals’ cemented their position atop the IPL 2024 points table. They have now won seven of their eight matches. This exhibits the team’s strong form and team cohesion. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians remain in the bottom half of the table, having won only three of their last eight games.
