“Every match is a semi-final for us,” Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) head coach Andy Flower remarked following his team’s disastrous bowling performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He promised a great comeback despite a close defeat while chasing a massive 288-run mark.
RCB put on a spirited batting performance despite chasing a massive goal of 288 runs in their most recent IPL match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Head coach Andy Flower remained optimistic, noting areas for improvement and expressing confidence in the team’s capacity to recover.
RCB’s chase started well, with openers Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli stitching together an 80-run partnership. Later, Dinesh Karthik’s explosive knock towards the end won the hearts of RCB fans.
“I’m truly proud of the fighting spirit displayed with the bat. Though we lost, the fight was commendable,” said Flower in a video posted on the RCB website.
He acknowledged the team’s increased confidence as a result of the great batting performance and underlined the importance of each remaining game as they compete for a playoff spot. “The high-scoring finale by the opposition was difficult, but we’ll strategize and come back stronger. It’s crunch time now, and every game is important to us, like a semi-final.”
Flower also applauded Dinesh Karthik’s remarkable innings, in which he hit 83 runs off just 35 balls, including five fours and seven sixes. “Dinesh Karthik’s performance strengthens his case for the World Cup squad, and he’s continuously improving on the field,” stated the head coach. The next IPL match for RCB will be played on Sunday at Eden Gardens.
