RCB thrilling win over GT (Gujarat Titans) in IPL 2024 gave goosebumps to RCB fans. The Bengaluru franchise made things difficult for itself with poor batting.
Batting first, GT posted a modest total of 152/6 in their 20 overs. Shubman Gill (27) and Shahrukh Khan (37) were the top scorers for the visitors, while RCB’s bowlers, led by Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal, and Vijaykumar Vyshak, kept a tight leash on the GT batters.
In the chase, RCB got off to a flying start with captain Faf du Plessis (64 off 23 balls) and Virat Kohli (42 off 27 balls) putting on a 92-run opening partnership in just 5.5 overs. This explosive start put RCB firmly in control of the match.
RCB Thrilling Win Over GT
However, a middle-order collapse saw RCB slump to 117/6, still needing 36 runs to win. But the experienced duo of Dinesh Karthik (21* off 14 balls) and Swapnil Singh (10* off 6 balls) held their nerve to guide RCB to a four-wicket victory with 38 balls to spare.
“It was a great team effort. The bowlers set it up for us, and then Faf and Virat gave us the perfect start. We did have a bit of a wobble in the middle, but Dinesh and Swapnil showed great composure to finish the job,” said RCB captain Faf du Plessis in the post-match presentation.
Much Needed Victory For RCB
This victory was crucial for RCB’s playoff hopes, as it moved them up to seventh place in the IPL points table with 8 points from 11 matches. GT, on the other hand, remain in ninth position with the same win-loss record and points.
“We were in the game till the end, but RCB’s brilliant start in the powerplay made it tough for us to catch up. The fight from the boys was incredible, and we will look to bounce back in our next match,” said GT batter David Miller.
The match was a testament to RCB’s ability to bounce back from difficult situations and their never-say-die attitude. The team will look to build on this win and continue their push for a playoff spot in the remaining matches of the tournament
