As the latest season of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 getting ready to begin with a bang, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star batter Virat Kohli talked about their clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He said that it would be very good to catch up with the legendary MS Dhoni ahead of the match.
The highest run getter in IPL history is Kohli as he scored 7263 runs in 237 matches and 229 innings. He averages 37.24, and his strike rate is 130.02. His best score is 113. He scored seven centuries in IPL and it is the most number of centuries by a batter. He also scored 50 fifties in his IPL career.
Kohli spoke about the season opener in the recent episode of RCB’s Bold Diaries. He said that it’s been a while that he met Dhoni. He also said that it would be nice to play in front of the passionate CSK fans at the iconic Chepauk Stadium. The former RCB and Indian skipper added that the season opener of the IPL 2024 will be a big game.
“Playing against CSK is always special. It’s always a big game. You know as they call it the Southern Derby. It’s a nice feeling to play in front of the passionate crowd at Chepauk and good to catch up with MS Dhoni too. It’s been a while,” Kohli added.
Kohli was the fourth-highest run-getter in last season. He piled up 639 runs at an average of 53.25 and a strike rate of 139.82. His best score was 101*. He scored two centuries and six fifties. But, the 35-year-old failed to take his side to playoffs. The latest season of IPL starts on Friday with defending champions CSK locking horns with RCB at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
