Shocking news for Indian cricket fans. India’s star pacer Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the IPL 2024 and the upcoming T20 World Cup.
The Indian Premier League first-phase schedule was released on Thursday, February 22. According to the schedule, the first phase will start on March 22.
However, the right-handed star pacer is going to miss this tournament due to a left ankle injury. According to the sources, Shami will leave soon for the UK to get surgery on his knee.
The 33-year-old cricketer played in the ODI World Cup final against Australia back in November. That was his last representation for India.
“Shami was in London in the last week of January to take special ankle injections. The doctors told him that after three weeks, he can start light running and take it from there.
But, unfortunately, the injection hasn’t worked. So now, the only option left is surgery. To undergo the surgery, Shami will leave shortly for the UK.
There is no possibility of him playing in the IPL,” a senior BCCI source said. According to reports, After the surgery, Shami should take a complete rest for some months.
So, there are some assumptions are also circulating that Shami is also ruled out of T20 World cup, that is going to be played in USA and West Indies.
