England’s middle-order batsman Joe Root saved his team by a magnificiant ton on the first day of the 4th test against India. Single-handedly, Root steered England through a hard day with a gritty century. With his estonishing ton and a conservative approach, he overtuned the flamboyance of ‘Bazball’ cricket.
Earlier in the match, England completely fumbled in their batting after winning the toss. Zak Crawley (42), Ben Duckett (11), Ollie Pope (0), Jonny Bairstow (38), and Ben Stokes (3) were left in the pavilion with minimalistic scores.
While the team was struggling, the 33-year-old senior batter took his time to settle at the crease. After settling, Root managed to score steadily. He confidently faced Indian pacers and moved the scoreboard forward. At stumps, Root stood unbeated on 106 runs off 226 deliveries.
On the other hand, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Foakes, and Ollie Robinson managed to support Root by 38, 47 and 31 runs.
