A new web series, “Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond,” starring Jimmy Shergill and Lara Dutta, is set to take viewers on a thrilling journey behind the scenes of a historic Indian military operation.
Inspired by true events, the show delves into the complexities of modern warfare, which extend beyond physical battlegrounds to encompass the realms of social media, digital strategies, and covert political maneuvers that can reshape the geopolitical landscape.
Stepping into the War Room:
Shergill describes his role as a unique challenge and a deeply rewarding experience. “Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond” marks India’s first war-room focused web series inspired by real-life events. Shergill explains, “Unlike anything I’ve done before, this project offered a glimpse into the strategy, risk-taking, and emotional toll endured by those making critical decisions within the war room.”
He vividly recounts a particularly demanding shoot: “The entire unit pushed through a grueling 48-hour schedule without breaks. Yet, the commitment and adrenaline kept us going. It truly felt like we were right there in the heart of the action.”
Portraying Power and Pressure:
Lara Dutta, playing a powerful negotiator, sheds light on the demanding nature of her character. “The urgency, split-second choices, and immense pressure within a war room create a unique environment,” she says. “Translating those emotions with honesty and authenticity is a significant acting challenge.”
Dutta praises the talented team behind the series, crediting them with fostering immense growth as an actor. “Having an Air Force background,” she adds, “made working on this project even more personal. We can’t wait to share the sense of national pride we experienced every day on set with the audience.”
Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond premieres on JioCinema on April 25th. The series also features Ashutosh Rana and Ashish Vidyarthi. Directed by Santosh Singh, it is produced by Sunjoy Waddhwa and Comall Sunjay W from Sphereorigins Multivision Private Limited.
