The fifth match of the IPL 2024 was played between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians on Sunday at Wankhade stadium, Mumbai. With its consistent bowling attack GT managed to defeat MI by 6 runs. Batting first after losing the toss, Gujarat Titans scored 168 runs on the score board after losing 6 wickets in 20 overs and restricted Mumbai for 162 runs to achieve victory in their opening match.
For Gujarat, Sai Sudarshan scored the highest score of 45 runs, while captain Shubhman Gill contributed 31 runs. In bowling, Jasprit Bumrah wreaked havoc, spending only 15 runs and taking three big wickets: Saha, Sai Sudarshan and David Miller.
While chasing the target, Mumbai’s innings faltered from the very beginning. However, Rohit Sharma (43) and Brewis (46) definitely tried to make Mumbai a comeback. Sai broke this partnership by dismissing Rohit. Whereas, Brevis was dismissed by Mohit.
Losing 5 wickets in the last three overs destroyed Mumbai‘s winning chances. In the final over Mumbai Indians needed 19 runs in the last over to win. Hardik Pandya hit a six on the first ball. Hit a four on the second one. But his fortune ended there, he was Caught out on the third ball. The tragedy wasn‘t ended here, the next batter, Piyush Chawla, was out on the fourth ball. In the end Mumbai lost the match by 6 runs. This helps GT to receive their first two points in torney.
However, Pandya was captaining the Gujarat Titans in the last two tourneys. But now he shifted to mumbai and captaining the 5 time champion team. Nonetheless, GT fans are trolling Pandya for losing against their team.
