After four hours of raids at Telangana former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter and Bharat Rashtra Samithi Party’s MLC K. Kavita’s house in Hyderabad on Friday, the Enforcement Directorate arrested her in connection with the liquor scam. ED and IT officials from Delhi arrived in Hyderabad today and conducted a four-hour-long search in Kavitha’s house with the assistance of Hyderabad teams.
As per the reports, ED acquired some incriminating documents during the raids. Depending on those documents, the Central Agency issued an arrest notice to Kavita and later took her into custody.
The key allegations against MLC Kavita are that she was part of the South Lobby, which conspired the excise scam. The Centra Agency alleges that Kavita, along with the Aam Admy Party ministers and others, formulated Delhi’s quashed liquor policy. Kavita is also accused of holding benami investments in the tainted liquor company, Indospirits.
According to ED’s allegations, nearly Rs. 100 crore was exchanged between Hyderabad and Delhi in connection with the liquor scam, and Kavita’s former frontman, Arun Ramchandran Pillai, was the key man in this scam. However, a day before the Lok Sabha poll date announcement, the arrest of the ex-CM’s daughter heated up politics across Telangana State.
