The Delhi Special Court quashed BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavita’s petitions in which she challenged her Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody and questioning by the Central Agency on Thursday.
Kavitha has filed two separate petitions in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court. One of them was filed challenging her arrest, and the other was filed against the CBI, questioning her.
However, the special court, which heard these two petitions, said that it was right to arrest her and that the CBI had the authority to question her.
Meanwhile, the ED arrested MLC Kavitha on March 15 in connection with the Delhi liquor scam. Since then, she has been in custody. Recently, she was shifted to Tihar Jail.
Recently, the CBI filed a petition in court and requested 5-day custody of Kavita. In their petition, the CBI said that Kavita is not cooperating with the investigation, and so it is necessary to take her into custody and interrogate her to find out more details.
After hearing the arguments of both sides, the court agreed with the CBI’s argument and allowed Kavitha to be in CBI custody for three days instead of five.
With this, the CBI will take Kavitha, who is in Tihar Jail, and conduct an in-depth investigation on the allegations of corruption related to the Delhi Liquor case.
