Success is not a piece of cake for everyone. It is only achieved by those who are truly determined and ready to face any struggles and overcome every hurdle on their way. These words are truly apt for 31-year-old night watchman Praveen Kumar from Hyderabad.
Golle Praveen Kumar from Mancherial district landed three government jobs in just a span of 10 days. Praveen Kumar has been working as a night watchman at Osmania University’s Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC) for 5 years. While doing duty as a watchman, Praveen used to study every day under the street lights.
Now, after a 5-year long struggle, Praveen has achieved his goal of getting a government job. But not only one or two; he successfully landed three jobs. He has been selected for the post of Junior Lecturer (JL) in Commerce and the Post-Graduate Teacher post, along with a Trained Graduate Teacher (Social Studies) post in the BC Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society.
Relied on Youtube Coaching:
Interestingly, Praveen never had any coaching for his studies. He only relied on YouTube content. After achieving this remarkable feat, he said, “For the last five years, I have been working as a night watchman in the EMRC. During my duty hours, I studied under the street lights and prepared for the competitive exams.”
Praveen’s family is a poor one. His father is working as a mason, and his mother is a beedi worker. It drove Praveen to get determined to pursue higher education and set a goal of securing a better job.
“In 2018, I missed DSC selection by just a half-mark. Since my parents are daily wage laborers, I did not want to be a burden on them. I got a job as a night watchman and did preparation for government jobs, including Group II, which I failed to clear last time.
Studied while working:
Praveen pursued M.Com., B.Ed., and M.Ed. degrees at the OU. While pursuing studies, he started working as a watchman at EMRC to cover his expenses. Praveen is now set to take up the junior lecturer job.
EMRC Director P. Raghupathi, along with other staff members, congratulated Praveen and honored him on his remarkable achievement.
