Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost to Mumbai Indians in the 25th match of the IPL 2024 at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. But watching Dinesh Karthik play his extraordinary shots against MI’s strong bowling attack, even MI fans were applauding his brilliant performance.
The RCB’s veteran played every shot like he measured the whole ground inch by inch. He stole the show by sending the ball to the boundary line between the fielders thrice was an eye-feast for the spectators. After du Plessis and Rajat Patidar, DK was the reason for Bengaluru’s huge score of 196 runs. He destroyed MI’s bowling attack by scoring 53 runs in just 22 balls.

Especially, In the 16 over, DK showed his extraordinary cricketing shots to Mumbai bowler Akash Madhwal. 19 runs were scored in this over, including four fours. DK sent the second ball of the over beyond the off stump to the boundary in an AB de Villiers style. The shot on the fourth ball was amazing. He scooped the ball to the boundary line through the keeper and over the short third fielder. Both made a full-stretch dive to stop the ball, but none were successful.
On the fifth ball, DK’s shot was just an action replay of the fourth ball. He scooped the ball towards the wicket keeper. Once again, the wicketkeeper and the short third fielder made a full-stretch dive, but their efforts went in vein, and the ball rushed to the boundary line like a bullet. The last ball also crossed the boundary line behind the wickets as it took an outside edge.
The fans, who watched DK’s remarkable shots behind the wickets, are amazed by his fearless innings. “Did DK take a pledge to score only from behind the wicketkeeper?” they joked. Even MI fans were completely flattered by his performance.
