The ruling party BJP bagged 8 out of 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, and the opposition party SP emerged victorious in the remaining two seats.
The election witnessed opposition candidates cross-voting for the ruling party.
The deputy chief minister of UP, Kesav Prasad Maurya, spoke to the media about this win and said, “We had been saying from the beginning that all of our candidates would win.
The BJP’s eight candidates have won today. I congratulate all the winning candidates in our party. I appreciate the people who voted for our candidates.
I also congratulate Akhilesh Yadav over the victory of their party’s two candidates.”
“With this victory, the vijay yatra of our party has begun in the Rajya Sabha and will continue in the Lok Sabha elections too. The same will go on till Vidhan Sabha elections and even further,” Maurya added.
While commenting with joy, the BJP member of the legislative council, Mohsin Raza, said, “Though the opposition was dejecting our victory chances in the Rajya Sabha, we knew that this would be the final result.
We were confident from the beginning that we were going to be victorious in all eight Rajya Sabha seats.
Ye 8 nahi, 80 ki tayyari hai. We are going to win 80 after this, and we will definitely win 400 in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections too.”
