The Dwaraka Express highway is being built at a cost of Rs. 10,000 crore. This is a key project of the BJP’s flagship infrastructure project, the Bharatmala project. By this latest inauguration, PM Modi completed Rs. 1 lakh crore of highway projects that he inauguration or laid the foundation stones for.
Meanwhile, the latest inaugurated phase is in Haryana. This phase was built at a cost of Rs. 4,100 crore. This includes a 10.2 km road linking the Delhi-Haryana Border with Basai Rail-over-Bridge and an 8.7 km road between Basai Rail-over-Bridge and Kherki Daula.
After inaugurating this phase, PM Modi said, “Before the construction of this Dwarka Expressway, people used to avoid traveling here after sunset. Even taxi drivers used to refuse or hesitate to come here, and the entire area was considered to be unsafe. But today, many big companies are coming here and setting up their projects. Now the area is becoming one of the fastest-developing areas of the NCR segment.”
However, there are many specialties of the Dwaraka Express Highway. It is the first expressway in India that is built on single pillars and has numerous underpasses and service roads along its 18-kilometer stretch of expressway. The 8-lane expressway will also provide direct connectivity between Delhi International Airport and Gurugram Bypass.
