Responding on this, the ruling Trinamool Congress party criticised the BJP severely. They shared a post on platform X and wrote, ‘If you can’t believe what you are seeing now… we want to make it clear. BJP MP and North Malda candidate Khagen Murmu kissed a woman at will during his campaign. Many leaders of the TMC have strongly criticised Khagen Murmu’s action. Malda District’s Trinamool Congress Vice President Dulal Sarkar condemned the incident and said that this is against Bengali culture. She commented that if leaders behave like this while asking for votes, then imagine what they will do after winning the elections. People have to make the correct decision on this issue.

While responding to the criticism, Khagen Murmu said that he kissed the girl, imagining her as a daughter. He questioned the critics about how it could be wrong to kiss a girl. He is accused of conspiracy, which is being conspired around him. He warned that he would file a complaint against the Trinamool Congress’ comments. He also said that the distortion of such images is to defame parties and individuals.
