In a significant political development, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena Party (JSP), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have released a common manifesto for the upcoming 2024 general elections in Andhra Pradesh.
The joint manifesto was unveiled at a press conference in Guntur, where TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu, JSP chief K. Pawan Kalyan, and Andhra Pradesh BJP in-charge Siddharth Nath Singh were present.
Manifesto Key Points: Job Creation, Unemployment Assistance
- One of the key promises in the manifesto is the creation of 20 lakh jobs in the next five years.
- Additionally, the coalition has pledged to provide a monthly allowance of ₹3,000 to unemployed youth.
Welfare Schemes
The manifesto includes several welfare schemes, such as:
- Women aged 19-59 will receive a monthly allowance of ₹1,500.
- Every school-going child will receive ₹15,000 per year under the ‘Talli ki Vandanam’ scheme.
- Farmers will receive an annual cash benefit of ₹20,000.
- Women will get free bus travel and three free gas cylinders per year.
- The old-age pension will be increased to ₹4,000 per month, and the disabled will receive ₹6,000 per month (₹15,000 for severe disability).
Support for Backward Classes
The manifesto promises significant support for Backward Classes (BCs), including:
- BCs will receive pensions from the age of 50, and a special protection act will be implemented.
- Over ₹1.50 lakh crore will be spent on the BC sub-plan.
- Reservations for BCs in local bodies will be restored to 34%, and 33% reservations in the legislature will be recommended to the Centre.
- ₹10,000 crore per year will be spent on self-employment for BCs, and ₹5,000 crore will be spent on upskilling through the ‘Aadharana’ scheme.
Support for Other Sections
- Nayi Brahmins working in temples will receive a ₹25,000 honorarium, and 200 units of free electricity will be provided to their shops.
- 10% reservation will be implemented for toddy workers in liquor shops, and ₹20,000 will be paid to fishermen during the annual fishing ban.
- Free electricity of up to 200 units for handlooms and 500 units for powerlooms will be provided to the weaving sector.
Other Promises
The manifesto also includes promises such as:
- Amaravati will be developed as the state capital, and a job calendar will be released every year.
- Industry-friendly policies will be introduced, and large-scale investments will be brought to Andhra Pradesh.
- Uninterrupted 9-hour power supply and free installation of solar pump sets, along with a 90% subsidy for drip irrigation, will be provided to farmers.
- Houses will be built for beneficiaries on two cents of land in urban areas and three cents in rural areas, including for journalists.
- The release of the joint manifesto by the TDP, JSP, and BJP is seen as a significant political move ahead of the 2024 elections in Andhra Pradesh.
