Rahul Gandhi On “Make In India”:: Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” program and called it a good idea “conceptually” but added that “it is clear that he failed” in response to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in the Parliament on Monday.
Rahul Gandhi On “Make In India”
“I believe the ‘Make in India’ initiative, which the Prime Minister suggested, was a smart idea. The outcome is in front of you: manufacturing’s percentage of GDP dropped from 15.3% in 2014 to 12.6% now, the lowest level in 60 years. I’m not pointing the finger at the prime minister; it wouldn’t be accurate to claim he didn’t attempt. Rahul Gandhi remarked, “I could say that the Prime Minister tried, but he failed.”
“We as a country have failed in organizing production and handed it over to the Chinese,” Rahul Gandhi added, further criticizing the Central administration.
He added that our country “refuses to produce” and that “Make in India” failed, which is why Chinese forces are in our country.
“Any nation essentially plans two events. After arranging consumption, you can arrange production. Services is the current term for organizing consumption. Manufacturing is the current term for production organization, but production is more than just manufacturing. “As a nation, we have failed to organize production,” he stated.
“We have great businesses that attempt to plan their output. In essence, we have given the Chinese control over production planning. Despite our claims to the contrary, this cell phone is not actually made in India. India does not manufacture this phone. India is where this phone is put together. Gandhi continued, “We are paying taxes to China…all the components of this phone are made in China,” in the face of strong sloganeering and protests from BJP MPs.
Rahul Gandhi’s comment during the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address was criticized by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju. Many members of the NDA expressed disapproval of the LoP’s comments regarding India’s organizational manufacturing failure.
