
Flop Film Wins Re-Release War: Hollywood legendary director Christopher Nolan’s iconic film, Interstellar, was re-released last Friday. It opened on a huge note in India too. Everybody thought that the movie will break all re-release records in the world. But for everyone’s surprise, it didn’t happen. At the same time, a small Bollywood film became the winner of the re-release game. To add more surprise, the movie was a flop when it originally released. The film, we are talking about, is Sanam Teri Kasam.
Flop Film Wins Re-Release War
Sanam Teri Kasam stars talented actors like Harshavardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, The film was released in 2016 and ended up as a flop. But, the music was a smashing hit and it made the movie a cult classic among fans. This resulted in the movie gaining more and more fans over these nine years. Because of this, the movie opened to a huge response upon its re-release.
As per reports, Sanam Teri Kasam collected close to Rs. 16 crores on its first weekend itself. This is a 170% higher than its lifetime run during the original run. The film collected Rs. 4.24 crore on Friday, Rs. 5.25 crore on Saturday and Rs. 6 crore on Sunday, as per reports. It is expected to do well in the coming days too. Because the the new releases are not performing well at the box office.
What About Interstellar?
When Sanam Teri Kasam is doing this much business across the nation, the much-anticipated Interstellar was able to do well only in very few cities. It earned Rs. 9 crores during its first weekend of re-release. The film earned Rs. 2.4 crore on Friday, Rs. 3.25 crore on Saturday and Rs. 3.25 crore on Sunday, as per reports. It is expected to close its re-release run with collections around Rs. 15 crores. It may look like a small amount compared to big hit movies, but this is actually a very good collection for a Hollywood film in India.

Failure Of Recent Releases
Sanam Teri Kasam and Interstellar combined collected over Rs. 24 crores during their opening weekend. This much higher than the new Hindi releases like Badass Ravikumar and Loveyaapa. So, these two movies might get even more collections than the expert projections. As Sanam Teri Kasam is a cult classic for romantic movie goers, Interstellar also had the cult classic status among hollywood movie lovers. So, they may break these projected collections.
John Abraham Reaction
As Sanam Teri Kasam opened to good numbers and running successfully on it’s re-release, bollywood star John Abraham congratulated Harshavardhan Rane. Reacting to the success on social media John wrote, “Happy to see you (Harshavardhan Rane) getting the success you deserve.” Fans are also happy for the movie is getting its due success.
